Prima zi a lunii octombrie marchează, la nivel mondial, lupta împotriva cancerului la sân. 1 octombrie este o zi care să le reamintească femeilor, că prin control medical, maladia poate fi descoperită și învinsă

Cancerul de sân reprezintă o problemă majoră de sănătate publică, iar lupta împotriva acestei boli presupune un efort concertat al instituțiilor statului, al societății civile și al cetățenilor.

Cancerul de sân este cel mai frecvent cancer la femei din întreaga lume. În fiecare an, la 1 octombrie, este marcată Ziua luptei împotriva cancerului de sân.
Creșterea gradului de conştientizare cu privire la cancerul de sân şi sublinierea importanţei informării asupra acestei boli este scopul acestei zile.
Cancerul de sân poate fi învins cu ajutorul programelor preventive.
